Hey there, future Yellowstone explorers! Whether you're dreaming of geysers, wildlife, or just the fresh mountain air, one big question always pops up before you start your adventure: “Which airport should I fly into for Yellowstone National Park?”
At Old Faithful and Friends, we're based just by Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN)—and yes, that’s a hint. But don’t worry, we’re here to give you the full scoop on all your airport options, so you can choose the one that fits your trip best.

1. Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) — Our Home Base!
If you're looking for a mix of convenience, amenities, and stunning Montana vibes, BZN is our top pick. Located in Belgrade, just outside of Bozeman, this airport is about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Yellowstone’s North Entrance in Gardiner, MT.
Why We Love It:
It's the largest and most well-connected airport in the region.
You’ll find rental cars, shuttles, and even fly fishing gear in the terminal (we're not kidding).
Plus, Bozeman itself is a charming town worth spending a day or two in—think breweries, hiking, and great coffee.
Best for: Flexible flights, flying from major cities, and starting your trip on the north side of the park.
2. Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) — Scenic & Close to the South Entrance

Located inside Grand Teton National Park (yes, inside a national park), JAC is only about 1 hour from Yellowstone’s South Entrance. The views from the plane alone might just steal the show.
Pros:
Closest airport to Yellowstone's South Entrance.
Gorgeous approach—seriously, have your camera ready.
Keep in Mind:
Flights here can be pricier and less frequent.
It’s a smaller airport, so be prepared for limited amenities.
Best for: Visiting both Grand Teton & Yellowstone, or if you’re heading in from the southern route.
3. West Yellowstone Airport (WYS) — Seasonal and Super Close
Want to land practically at Yellowstone’s doorstep? WYS is just a 10-minute drive to the park’s West Entrance. Talk about convenience.
Heads-Up:
Only open during summer months (roughly June through early October).
Fewer flights, mostly from Salt Lake City.
Best for: Summer travelers who want to be in the park within minutes.

So which airport is closest to Yellowstone
While all roads can lead to Yellowstone, flying into Bozeman (BZN) gives you the perfect mix of accessibility, comfort, and the best base camp vibes. We might be biased (okay, we are), but there's a reason we call this place home!
Plus, starting in Bozeman gives you easy access to charming towns, hot springs, and a head start on the northern loop of the park—home to Mammoth Hot Springs, Lamar Valley, and of course, our namesake: Old Faithful.
So pack those hiking boots, grab your camera, and let’s get you to Yellowstone. We can’t wait to see you out here!
