How to Get to Yellowstone?

Updated: 1 day ago

Planning a trip to Yellowstone National Park is exciting—but figuring out how to actually get there can be a little overwhelming. Don’t worry—Old Faithful and Friends Shuttle is here to help you navigate your options and make your journey as smooth as possible.

Whether you’re flying in from out of state, driving in from a nearby town, or traveling with a group, we’ve got the key travel tips to get you to Yellowstone’s gates with ease.

1. Flying to Yellowstone

While Yellowstone doesn’t have its own airport, there are several regional airports that offer convenient access to the park. If you're flying in, your best option is:

Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN)

This is the hub for Old Faithful and Friends Shuttle! Located just 1.5–2 hours from Yellowstone’s North and West Entrances, BZN offers the most flight options, including direct service from many major U.S. cities.

Because we’re based right at the Bozeman airport, we’re ready to meet you as soon as you land. No rental car? No problem. Our door-to-door service can take you straight from the airport to your lodging, park entrance, or other destination.

Other Nearby Airports:

  • Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) – Around an hour from Yellowstone’s South Entrance.

  • West Yellowstone Airport (WYS) – Closest to the West Entrance; open seasonally.

  • Idaho Falls Regional Airport (IDA) – Roughly 2.5 hours from the West Entrance.

No matter where you land, Old Faithful and Friends Shuttle can help you connect to Yellowstone easily—but if you’re flying into Bozeman, we’ve got you covered from the moment you step off the plane.

2. Driving to Yellowstone

If you're road-tripping, there are five main entrances to Yellowstone:

  • West Entrance (via West Yellowstone, MT) – Most popular in summer.

  • North Entrance (via Gardiner, MT) – The only entrance open year-round.

  • South Entrance (via Grand Teton/Jackson, WY) – Scenic drive through Teton.

  • East Entrance (via Cody, WY) – Great option if you’re coming from central Wyoming.

  • Northeast Entrance (via Cooke City, MT) – Most remote, but near Lamar Valley for wildlife.

Make sure to check seasonal road closures and weather conditions. Some entrances and roads inside the park close during winter months.

Don’t want to drive? Let us do the work. Old Faithful and Friends Shuttle can pick you up from surrounding towns and get you safely to your destination in and around Yellowstone.

3. Public Transportation and Shuttles

There is no public bus or train service directly into Yellowstone National Park. That’s why services like ours exist! Old Faithful and Friends Shuttle bridges that gap—whether you need a ride from the airport, your hotel, or a local campground.

We also offer custom group shuttles, guided tours, and flexible options for solo travelers and families. Just tell us where you're coming from—we’ll get you where you need to go.

4. What to Know Before You Go

  • Reservations are highly recommended in peak season (May–October).

  • Park entry fees are separate from transportation costs. Be sure to bring or buy your park pass.

  • Pack for all weather. Conditions can change fast in Yellowstone, even in summer.

  • Cell service is limited. Plan ahead and print or download directions or confirmation emails.
